80’s fashion: what do we keep?

A decade full of colors, sequins and shoulder pads, the 80s are considered by many to be the darkest hours in fashion history. And yet, some key pieces and cuts from the 80’s are coming back to the forefront … We’re taking a quick look at 80’s fashion, the pieces we keep, and how to wear them to be trendy  !

The structured silhouette of the 80s

Oversized shoulders and a defined waist have left a strong mark in the history of fashion. With a lot of shoulder pads and puffed sleeves, the feminine silhouette of the 80s outlined a well-defined build, particularly among the working girls of the decade.

Today, the trend for shoulder pads is back , as is the trend for XXL sleeves , particularly in organza , so don’t hesitate to bring out your mom’s suit jackets, or take a trip to the thrift store!

Flashy colors: a must today

80s fashion is very clearly synonymous with flashy colors  : fuchsia, candy pink, lemon yellow, cobalt blue, neon colors… And, it probably hasn’t escaped your notice, it’s precisely these fluorescent and neon colors that we love wearing right now! To treat yourself with flashy 80’s style without looking disguised, opt for a single neon piece , which you mix with a more sober outfit.

The 80’s beauty look

So, clearly, not everything is to be kept in the beauty trends of the 80s , but we can’t say no to a pretty line of neon liner, a neon French manicure, or a big velvet scrunchie in the hair… Be careful, not all at once!
